Johnson & Johnson $417 Million Talc Powder Cancer Link Verdict got Reversed by the Judge

The relief came for the company Johnson & Johnson, when a judge in Los Angles reversed the verdict of $417 million case against the multinational company for the links between where it was found its product like talc based causes Ovarian cancer.

As earlier in the month of august, The  Johnson and Johnson was asked to compensate $417 million to Eva Echeverria from California. The lady claimed that she has developed an ovarian cancer over the use of Johnson and Johnson’s talc powder. $70 million is to be given in term of compensatory damage and $347 million as punitive damages.

But now as per the latest verdict came on Friday. Judge said there is not enough evidence to prove talcum powder is involved in the cancer of ovaries.

The judge also approved  J&J’s request to have a new trial, also added as there were errors and not sufficient evidence from both sides that was calculated to excessive damages.

The lawyer Mark Robinson representing woman said that he would immediately file an appeal.

Ans added fight must go on for all the women who have suffered from this dangerous product.

In prior to the court’s judgement, Johnson & Johnson said in a statement that this came as an relief and they will continue defend themselves.

Adding to that, also said J&J currently faces 4,800 lawsuits regarding talc related problems. Most cases are from california. The Echeverria’s case is the first to go on trial from Missouri where there are already five cases on J and J.

When the verdict from Missouri came it also welcomed four verdicts against Johnson & Johnson, as the verdict in which came out to compensate $307 million. Till now company has won one trial.

Also the appellate court of  Missouri reversed an case from 2016. The case verdict was to give $72 million to the family of Jacqueline Fox from Alabama. Who has passed away in October 2016 from ovarian cancer.
